SUCCESS STORY The acclaimed mega success story of the Face of Ghana – Holland Beauty Pageant, organized as part of activities to mark Ghana’s Golden Jubilee anniversary celebrations, traces its effective beginning to Saturday, 30th June, 2007 when the maiden event was staged at the Augustinus College Amsterdam with pump and pageantry.

People from all walks of life and far beyond The Netherlands, among who were Ghana’s Ambassador to The Netherlands H.E. Dr. (Mrs.) Grace Amponsah-Ababio and the deputy head of mission Mr. J.F. Tettey, made up the audience that was thrilled by the spectacular and overwhelming show put up by eleven contestants full of poise and elegance.

The host was no other personality than the celebrated show-biz icon KKD (Kwasi Kyei Darkwah), affectionately called by his admirers The Finest. Beyond the remarkable achievement with sponsorship and invaluable support provided by Ghanaian and Non-Ghanaian businesses, the three winners were invited to participate in the maiden edition of a beauty pageant for winners of Miss Ghana pageants in the Diasporas – tagged Ghana Homecoming Queen Pageant (also part of Ghana@50 activities).

The event, organized by Basket and Beyond (a Ghanaian NGO) with support from the Ministries of Women and Children Affairs, Chieftancy and Culture and Tourism and Diaspora Relations and involved Ghanaian Beauty Queens in the Diasporas, took place on Saturday, 1st September, 2007 at the refurbished National Theatre in Accra.
